They started their Super Four with a victory. Bangladesh is currently struggling as it has lost last two games. Sri Lanka won a consecutive 13th ODI match.

At first let’s discuss the playing XI of both teams;

They wanted to score 258 runs to win. Musafir Rahim and Hridoy scored 72 runs together for fifth wicket. However, the intense pitch at the Premadasa Stadium made it difficult for Bangladesh to reach their target as Sri Lanka’s bowlers were very effective.

Sri lanka-Partnership

While Samarawickrama’s performance will receive praise, this win was mostly due to Sri Lanka’s impressive bowling team. Right now, people know about the problems they are facing. But every time something bad happens, there is always someone who comes forward to take charge.

For the first time in the career of the captain, Dasun Shanaka bowled for nine overs. He took three wickets for 28 runs. By getting Mehidy out, Shanaka started the game, due to which the partnership of 55 runs between Mehidy and Naim ended. Hridoy tried to support Mushfiqur.

Calling it a fortune, Shanaka bowled many overs because Maheesh Theeksana got hit on his right thumb while batting. Consequently, he stopped playing after just one over. After recovery he returned in the game and took some important wickets like, Hridoy, Shamim and Taskin. He even gave 69 runs in nine overs before hitting in wickets.

Matheesha Pathirana took important wicket of Shakib Al Hasan including three others. He beautifully bowled two yorkers to finish team’s batting lineup. The batsmen playing in the end tried to struggle but all got out.

Additionally, in the 24th over while batting started, Samarwickrama seemed to be playing differently with a loud sound. He played very well logically with precision. He worked hard in local matches to get this opportunity. After his performance, he has made his place in the ODI team. He mostly tried to score singles. Until the 40th hour he had two fours. In the last ten overs, he scored 81 runs which helped them to win the match with 257 scores.

Before Samarawickrama’s interference, this situation was heading towards a familiar outcome for Sri Lanka’s batting performances – a failure in the end. A 34-run partnership between Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka was followed by a 74-run partnership. This helped Sri Lanka reach a score of 103 for 1 after 22 overs.

Bangladesh made good choices with their bowlers, often using a mix of fast and spin bowlers. While the spinners were not allowed to make any decisions, the Sri Lanka hitters had to face the failure at the other end. Despite conceding over six runs per over, all three Bangladesh pace bowlers combined to capture a total of eight wickets. This lead them to an imbalanced scorecard. The three spinners didn’t take any wickets, but none of them gave away more than five runs per over.

Bangladesh’s turn to bat followed a similar plan, with Hridoy and Mushfiqur’s partnership going well. In the end, even though Samarawickrama’s innings showed a difference. After 39 overs, the score stood at 173 runs for each team, with 5 players being taken out of the game. By the 40th over, Bangladesh needed 81 runs to win. This was exactly the same amount that Sri Lanka had scored in their last ten overs.

Sri Lanka Won 1

But an easy turn of events would not be amazing . Mushfiqur tried to hit the ball hard but got out. Hridoy also got out before that because they ran out of players. Theekshana was the one who made Hridoy get out. Despite a minor setback from one or two powerful tail strikes , Sri Lanka had already achieved sufficient progress by that point.
