Wanderers Stadium

Wanderers Stadium, one of the most historically significant grounds of the era, is located in Illovo, Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa. Due to sponsorship reasons, it is also known as “The Imperial Wanderers Cricket Stadium“. It is the official name for the stadium until 2025. Because of the intimidating atmosphere, it is named ‘Bullring’. Wanderers Cricket Ground is also famous as Kent Park. The stadium is operated under DP World and is utilized for practice by the South Africa Cricket Team, Highveld Lions (Transvaal), Jozi Star, and Joburg Super Kings.

The Wanderers Stadium

In 1956, the Wanderers Stadium was constructed as a substitute for Old Wanderers Cricket Stadium. On 1st October 2004, the Wanderers Clubhouse was destroyed by fire. It was formerly known as Liberty Life Wanderers; however, beginning with the 2008-09 campaign, Bidvest Group assumed ownership of the facility, changing the name to Bidvest Wanderers Cricket Stadium, which will remain until the end of September 2019.

Additionally, in October 2019, Imperial Logistics took the naming rights agreement, and ‘The Imperial Wanderers Cricket Stadium’ name was selected for the venue. In 2022, DP World purchased the naming rights, and the stadium evolved into DP World Wanderers Cricket Stadium.

The address of the stadium is given as:

In addition, after being gutted by a fire in 2003, three-quarters of the stadium was renovated again. The devastating fire has destroyed some priceless items, for example, trophies, bats, etc.
