England fell out of the race for the semi-finals with this defeat. The defending champion could not show his performance and was out of the tournament with the sixth loss. England had the worst end of the World Cup.

As in this tournament, the toss-winning team did not succeed in defending themselves. Likely, England won the toss but lost the match. The outstanding bowling from Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes and David Willey did not let them score freely. Moreover, Chris Woakes took two wickets and went back to the pavilion opening batsman. Travis Head and David Warner could not have an identical start for the match. Additionally, they built a partnership of 11 runs before falling the first wicket of the inning. Travis Head scored 11 runs with 10 balls. Only one player with a half-century appeared in this game from Australia.

Marnus Labuschagne’s 71-run addition proved beneficial for them. Further, Cameron Green had the bad luck that he was near to his half-century but bowled out at 47. Steven Smith made 44 runs off 52 balls and was out by Adil Rashid. Adam Zampa, the Player of the match, also made four boundaries and added 29 runs to the board. Due to the strong bowling of England, Australia did not score many runs and did not have a difficult task. But it was another bad day that they did not defend an easy target of 286 runs.

It was the first wicket that fell on the first-ever bowl of the 2nd inning. Mitchell grabbed Jonny Bairstow’s wicket in his first over’s first ball. Jonny tried to play a long shot and was unluckily caught by Inglis. After that, Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes built a partnership and reached the 100 score. They both completed their half-centuries. Jos Buttler, the captain of the team played seven balls and out after scoring only 1 run.

Moeen Ali also showed his batting strategy and made 42 runs with the help of 43 balls. When Moeen dismissed the score was 186/7. After that, no player chases the target. Chris Woakes made 32 and Adil Rashid made 20 runs. They were near to his target but did not give a better finish to the game. All teams retired from the crease at just 253.

With this, Australia achieved a 33-run win. The England vs Australia match always tends to go in an exciting direction but not this game. The Australian team had great power in the middle order in the form of Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell. But both were not included in the match against England. Moreover, Adam Zampa proved his strength to grab a 3-wicket haul by giving 21 runs.
