Who Won Australia Vs New Zealand 27th Match of World Cup 2023 – 28 Oct Match Performance, Scores Updates

Another exciting 27th match of ICC World Cup 2023 was played between Australia and New Zealand at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala, India on October 28, 2023.

Both teams appeared on the field with the same spirit and both competed well. New Zealand won the toss and handed the batting to Australia. Australia batted best and set New Zealand a target of 388 runs. The New Zealand team tried their best to meet the target but unfortunately managed to score 383 runs. New Zealand needed six runs off the last ball and Lockie Ferguson scored a single. Thus Australia won the thrilling match by five runs. Travis Head played an innings of 109 runs off 67 balls and was outstanding in this match. He was also awarded the Player of the Match.

Dharamshala Stadium hosted the highest-scoring game of the World Cup. Both teams scored a run of 771. A great opening and a superb start given by the Australian openers. Moreover, they made an opening of 175 runs. They both built a strong partnership. David Warner hit 6 sixes and made 5 boundaries. In addition, Travis Head put on 7 sixes and 10 fours. In the opening power play, they made 118 runs. Travis Head had played excellently and scored the fastest century off 59 balls.

The first wicket of the Australian team fell in the 20th over. Phillips got this wicket with his excellent ball. David Warner could not complete his century and faced 65 balls and scored 81 runs. After breaking the partnership Travis also did not stand on the crease for a long time. Phillips got his second wicket of the first innings. He bowled brilliantly and out the two strong openers. Moreover, Mitchell and Steven hold the place and play at his slow speed. They made singles and Mitchell played many dot lines. When the third wicket fell the score of the team was 228. Steven Smith was out just scoring 18 runs. Glenn Maxwell made 41 runs off 28 balls. To score these runs, he hit 2 sixes and 5 fours.

The captain Pat Cummins also scored the fastest 38 runs. He faced 14 balls in which 4 sixes and 2 fours. The great batting from the Australian team could provide the best to give the huge target. New Zealand bowler Glenn Phillips bowled 10 overs, took 3 wickets, and gave 37 runs. Trent Boult also grabbed 3 wickets and gave 77 runs in 10 overs. They set a target of 388 runs with his non-stop batting.

New Zealand played with extremely high expectations to complete the target. Additionally, they did their best and they reached the target. But it was their bad luck that they did not finish properly. The openers Devon Conway and Will Young did not give a proper start. They could not score enough. The very first wicket dropped on just 61 runs after 7.2 overs. This wicket creates anxiety in the team. After that, the second wicket of Will Young fell off. He scored only 32 runs of which 1 six and 4 fours were included. On the other hand, Rachin Ravindra came to the crease and gave an outstanding performance. He played fearlessly and made long shots. His superb innings brought the team close to the target.

The New Zealand bowler Hazlewood took the first two wickets and built the pressure on the team but Rachin’s performance removed this. Daryl Mitchell also scored a half-century. Tom Latham added 21 runs. James Neesham was present on the spot. He got out in trying to score 2 runs. The run out on the 2nd last ball was his bad luck. When only 7 runs were needed to win the game off two balls. On the last ball, 7 runs were required to complete the target but Lockie Ferguson scored a single and Australia won this thrilling and amazing match. Both teams had a great fight. Travis Head remained on the top to score 109 runs.
