A most awaited match of the ICC World Cup 2023 was played between England and Pakistan on November 11, 2023. The match was held at Eden Gardens Stadium, Kolkata, India, and played in a very friendly environment. The toss of this match cleared the disqualification of the Pakistani team to the semi-final. By losing the toss Pakistan also lost the chance for entering the semi-final. England opted to bat first. With his brilliant performance, they not only won the match but also sealed their presence in the Champion Trophy 2025. They gave the target of 337 runs on 9 wickets to chase. But the Pakistani team slipped on just 244 runs. Moreover, before completing the 50 overs the Pakistani team went to the pavilion back. The England team showed another amazing performance in this tournament. The champion team suffered a very hard time in the World Cup 2023. Losing many of the matches, they were out of the race for the semi-final qualification very early. But with this win, they reserved their position for the Champion trophy. Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes completed their centuries. So, they collectively showed their strength.

David Malan and Jonny Bairstow started with a partnership of 82 runs. After the first power play ended, they reached 72 and no wicket fell. In such a way, in the 14th over the first wicket fell by Iftikhar Ahmed. Dawid Malan scored only 31 runs off 39 balls. Joe Root came to the crease and tried to build up the partnership but after just 26 runs the 2nd wicket dropped. Jonny Bairstow was out on a flat drive to cover off Haris Rauf. Then Ben Stokes and Joe Root took the runs from 108 to 240.

Ben Stokes completed his 84 runs from 76 balls by hitting 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. Jos Buttler also added 27 runs while using 18 balls. With an out of Ben Stokes, no player stood on the crease for more time to face more balls and score more runs. After that one by one wickets fell. Harry Brook also handed over his easy catch to Shaheen Shah Afridi on the ball by Haris Rauf. Harry Brook used 17 balls and scored 30 runs. Gus Atkinson was bowled by Mohammad Wasim.

Shaheen Shah Afridi fell two strong wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes and stopped their run-scoring innings. Haris Rauf took the figure of 3/64 in 10 overs. Mohammad Wasim also grabbed two wickets by giving the 74 runs. Further, they stop the opposite team from scoring more runs. But the batsman also did not chase the target of 338 runs.

Only Agha Salman scored a half-century from the Pakistani team. The first wicket was dropped in the 2nd ball of the 1st over. Abdullah Shafique went back to the pavilion scoring no runs. After that, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan led the score up to 61 runs before falling the next wicket.

Mohammad Wasim scored 16 runs and remained unbeaten. Moreover, Haris also played brilliantly and made 35 runs with 23 balls. Woakes’ ball proved the end of the inning. After falling the last wicket, they finished the game with 244. Additionally, the England team achieved the win by 93 runs.
