Who Won India Vs South Africa 37th Match of World Cup 2023 – 05 Nov Match Performance, Scores Updates

An interesting match between well-played India and South Africa teams took place at Eden Gardens Stadium, Kolkata, India on November 5, 2023. It was the 37th match from 48 matches of the ICC World Cup 2023.

Both teams showed their best performance in this tournament. But South Africa did not play well in this match and India won this match easily. South Africa had a bad failure both in batting and bowling. After the toss, India elected to bat first. Playing first they scored 326 runs on the loss of five wickets. On the other hand, South Africa scored only 83 runs and did not complete the target. Virat Kohli scored his century off 121 balls and was declared the Player of the Match.

India grabbed another big win of 243 runs over a strong team. Indian players showed great skills in both innings. Moreover, they batted first and collectively scored 326 runs. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave the start of 62 runs. The first wicket of India fell in the 6th over. Shubman Gill scored just 23 runs of which 4 fours and 1 six were included. After that, Virat Kohli tried to make a partnership. But after just scoring 31 runs Rabada’s ball broke the partnership.

Rohit Sharma scored just 40 runs off 23 balls. He hit 2 sixes and 6 fours with a strike rate of 166.66. Shreyas finished with 77 runs. He used 87 balls to reach this figure. Virat Kohli completed his century in 121 balls but hit not a single six. In addition, he made 10 boundaries and remained unbeatable. Moreover, he completed his 49th century and equaled him with Sachin Tendulkar. On his 35th birthday, he achieved 8 successive wins for the Indian team. A 60,000 crowd celebrated his birthday with this memorable century and win.

KL Rahul again failed to take part in the win. He added 8 runs and returned to the pavilion on Jansen’s ball. In the 43rd over, Suryakumar came for batting but after 23 balls, he was knocked out by Shamsi. He played 14 balls in which he made 5 boundaries and was out after scoring 22 runs. Virat and Ravindra Jadeja lifted the score to 326. Ravindra made 29 runs off 15 balls. Further, he took one of the best bowling figures of his career of 5/33. 

India batting against South Africa

All bowlers except Aiden took one wicket. Marco Jansen gave 94 runs to the opposite team in 9.4 overs. In the 2nd inning, South Africa could not succeed in showing their best performance. In addition, they looked like they were under pressure against India. Not even a player scored 20 runs. In the same way, just four players crossed Figure 10. Moreover, they played 27.1 overs. India’s strong bowling did not let them stay for 100 runs.

This match was the worst loss for South Africa. While India managed a great win after an outstanding performance. Whereas, Quinton de Kock who appeared a brilliant opener in previous matches of the tournament bowled in 2nd over of chase. Jadeja bowled three players and took strong wickets of the opposite team. Additionally, the South African team did not hit a single six in the 2nd inning and made only 10 boundaries.
