An exciting and thrilling match was played between Pakistan and South Africa on October 27, 2023. It was held at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, India, and the 26th match of the ICC World Cup 2023.

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first because they were facing a team that had given a big target to the other team in all the matches of the World Cup in which they had the opportunity to bat first. But batting at number two has been a bit difficult for him. But despite making an excellent decision, the Pakistan team could not win the match. Playing first, they set a target of 270, which South Africa achieved at the loss of nine wickets. Tabraiz Shamsi remained prominent after taking four wickets. After winning the first two matches in this tournament, Pakistan suffered four consecutive defeats. Which is disappointing for the Pakistani fans and team members. South Africa failed in just one match. Due to the excellent bowling of South Africa, Pakistan was not able to give a big target. But the Pakistan team fought till the end, finally Maharaj scored a four and this match was also named for South Africa.

The start of the Pakistani team was not so good. The opening players Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq did not give a good beginning. They should have started the match well as they were playing against a good team. But they could only start with 20 runs and the first wicket fell in the fifth over by Jansen with his best bowling. Abdullah Shafique is one of the emerging talents of Pakistan, he proved to be a great player by scoring a century in his ODI debut, but he could not do well in this match.

There was only a gap between the fall of the first and second wickets. In the seventh over, Imam-ul-Haq also returned to the pavilion. Muhammad Rizwan took over the batting and Babar Azam also supported him. Together, the two took Pakistan’s runs to 86 in 15.5 overs. Rizwan wicket fell and Iftikhar came to join Babar. Babar Azam completed his half-century but he used 65 balls to achieve it. Iftikhar Ahmed also failed to score more runs and returned only 21 runs.

Pakistan’s fifth wicket fell for 141 runs. Shadab Khan and Saud Shakeel put up a good partnership and took the runs to 240 but both of them were unable to save their wickets. Saud Shakeel could only score 52 runs in 52 deliveries. The top order was not very successful as they gave their wickets to the South African bowlers. Moreover, he missed a better target.

Pak vs Aus, Pakistan loss the match

South Africa faced difficulties playing at number two as Pakistan’s bowlers battled to the last wicket to clinch the match. After the wicket of Aiden Markram fell in the last overs, the match took an interesting turn as the rest of the players failed to score any more runs. Quinton de Kock, who is considered the best player in South Africa, played the best cricket in the tournament. Shaheen took his wicket in the opening overs. Additionally, he played an innings of 24 runs using 14 balls. Aiden hit seven boundaries and three sixes to bring South Africa closer to victory. But he failed to complete his century and was dismissed by Usama Mir.

In the last 10 overs, Pakistan’s bowlers turned the match around. After Markaram’s wicket, one by one all wickets dropped down. When the eighth wicket fell, South Africa only needed 21 runs to win. Maharaj and Lungi were on strike. Shaheen bowled his brilliant over and took the wicket of Gerald in his last 10t over. Haris brilliantly caught Lungi out in the last over which could have been the best catch for Pakistan. But 11 runs from Maharaj and Tabraiz gave South Africa the win. The last four given by Nawaz proved bad for Pakistan. But both teams had an interesting and thrilling match of the tournament with his great performance.

SA won the 26th match against Pak

The South African team fulfilled the target in 47.2 overs and won by one wicket. Tabraiz Shamsi became the Player of the Match after getting 4 wickets.
